Kitchen Remodel

It took me FOR-EV-ER to do the Kitchen!!! Vacations, detours, kids, life just kept getting in the way of me finishing it!!!! This is still just a temporary makeover for our Kitchen, Dave is going to make cabinets himself as soon as he gets other projects out of the way. We will eventually put Natural Cherry wood cabinets in the Kitchen just like our FRONT door. So what do you think for temporary?

Detour

We had a little detour in our remodeling, our front door got jammed. The knob broke and so we bought an awesome new door handset, which they said is a standard size and should match up to the pre-made holes in our door. Well, it wasn't standard it didn't even match up...as we were figuring this out we realized the casing was stripped out and that was the REAL problem with our door. So we found an unfinished cherry wood door for an awesome price, and Dave sanded & stained it and also had to make his own casing. It ended up quite a project!!!! Dave was sad he didn't have the time to actually make his own door from scratch but we needed a door at that moment and here is what we came up with....

Pruning

Our yard has so many trees and bushes that it takes a whole lot of time to keep up on the yard work, I have done it all myself this summer and I am beat!!!! I had to prune so much off of the bushes that there are some definite bare spots, but there is such a big difference! Take a look!

Survived the Summer!

My favorite renovation for the Glass House so far is that we updated our cooling & heating system!!! Yes we switched from thee Ol' Swamp cooler to our beloved Central AIR!!! We also got a new furnace, we'll see the benefits of it this Winter. If you want your house to have any worth, gotta have the central air!!!! lol So why should you get rid of the swamp cooler if you have central air? Because they are two different ways of cooling, so if you have them working at the same time, they are working against each other...I guess you could still keep the swamp cooler and use it instead of central air when it isn't so hot, but in our case we had to get rid of the swamp cooler, there was too much space in our house for it to try and reach, and it never got passed the hallway and stairs!
I am sooooo grateful for the central air, I didn't even realize it was summer, it was working that well!

So here is how you get the swamp cooler off your house!
