The middle bathroom

So it takes a little time and money to get the remodeling done! I hate oak cabinets I can NOT stand looking at them. The house came to us pretty dirty. The walls needed and overdue paint job. When we moved into our house their was tons of dust caked on the doors, cabinets and walls. So it was a lot of work from the beginning. But some things just can't stay the same, I needed a change! So I decided to paint the cabinets in the middle bathroom (kid's bathroom) and paint the walls. This is temporary for now until brand new cabinets get on our list. We have two other projects in the making but I couldn't stand this bathroom any longer. So this is what I came up with for now...eventually we will get new cabinets, counters, tile, and fixtures...

HOW TO DO IT:

What you need:

eye wear
mask
blue tape
primer
Rich Mahogany behr paint
Smooth paint rollers
Paint brush
Paint trays
60 grit sandpaper
sander

1.)Take cabinet doors off, put screws and in a ziploc bag and put somewhere safe where you will remember.
2.) Do a light sand on the cabinets, enough so the paint can stick.
3.) Wash the sand particles off with a wash cloth.
4.) Prep the work place with the blue tape, taping off anything you do NOT want painted.
5.) Prime the cabinets with a paint roller (the # of coats depends how absorbent the cabinets are, only do a max. of two coats)
6.) Let dry for a few hours
7.) Use the paint brush to get the paint into the cracks
8.) Roll on two coats of Rich Mahogany
9.) Put doors back on after cabinets dry over night

Exactly what paint did you use, and will you explain the process to me? Did you prime it first? I REALLY want to paint our kitchen table, chairs, entertainment center, and a bookcase because we don't have the money to buy new furniture. I really like dark mahogany wood, and so I am trying to decide to paint them the color of your cabinets or paint them black. Please help me, little miss fix it!

Me, too, Julie! I want the real directions, Jana! Did you also paint the countertop or is it just different lighting?

The counter top is the same, just different lighting, keep in mind this renovation is only temporary until Dave gets started on making new cabinets for it, and lighting, counter tops, tile etc.
